Geeks rule, losers! Ahem. Don’t ask what that was. Anyway and apparently, tis Geek Pride Day and I totally didn’t know that was a thing… so cool.
The awesome Heather over at Just Geeking By started a series of blogging prompts called Seriously Geeky Sundays. This week is all about explaining thy inner geek in honor of Geek Pride Day. Definitely check out Heather’s creative prompts and take part in the fun if you want! I’m absolutely loving her questions so far.
So… without anymore intro babbling from me, here are my answers to Just Geeking By’s geek-out questions for this week. Thank you, Heather!
What is your geek origin story?
Uh… I’ve just always been one, I guess? I’m an only child who grew up in the middle of freaking nowhere. Escaping into various fandoms was what I did to cope with life stuff and it made up for the lack of having peer level humans around. My parents are awesome, though!
What does being a geek mean to you?
To me, being a geek means understanding that fictional fandoms are a valid and wonderful form of IRL escapism and entertainment.
How do you express your geeky side?
I love collecting physical copies of video games, statues of video game characters, posters, Amiibo and whatnot. I also have a really badass tattoo of [character name removed to protect blogger’s super secret identity] on my arm. It’s so freaking cool and I wanna show it off… but I just can’t right now. Sorry. Gotta fully move on from the painful past first, else the cycle of my drama repeats. And I’m soooo done with my old troubled self. I love being who I am today! 😎
What are some of your favourite geeky websites and places to shop?
Not exactly officially licensed geek merchandise, but I enjoy shopping for geeky items on Redbubble. You can find so many cool things for just about any fandom!
Who are some of your favourite geeky celebrities?
The great action shero Milla Jovovich! Her role as Alice in the much hated Resident Evil movies (I love the movies so fight me) inspired teenage me to join the Canadian Army Reserves for a bit. I wish I was a badass action shero like her… sigh.
Anyway, Milla is a huge fitness, poetry, and music geek outside of all the butt-kicking and sexy makeup modeling stuffs. Today, I stumbled upon a music album she made in 1994, The Divine Comedy, and it’s pretty freaking fabulous. She’s such a cool creative soul and can punch things really good. ❤
Who Are Some of Your Favourite Geeky Bloggers?
I LOVE SO MANY BLOGGERS!! Here’s a very small random sampling of my favourite folks:
- Later Levels
- The Gaming Diaries
- The Shameful Narcissist
- Professional Moron
- Adventure Rules
- Timlah’s Texts & Unity3D Tech
