Seriously Geeky Sundays: What makes you smile?

Ah, smiling legitimately is one of the best feelings ever!! I’ve worn millions of fake smiles to get through many hard days, but there’s nothing like the real thing to boost my mood, as rare as that is sometimes.

The awesome Heather over at Just Geeking By started a series of blogging prompts called Seriously Geeky Sundays. This week is all about appreciating the things that make us smile in honor of National Smile Day. Definitely check out Heather’s creative prompts and take part in the fun if you want! I’m absolutely loving her questions so far.

So… without anymore intro babbling from me, here are my answers to Just Geeking By’s smiley questions for this week. Thank you, Heather!

What TV shows do you love?

I’ll always hold the classic TV shows like The Simpsons (Seasons 1-12) and Seinfeld close to my heart. Recently, I’ve gotten into more serious-drama-y shows like Wentworth and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

What are your favourite movie genres?

I don’t watch many movies but when I do anything with lots of punching, laughs, and/or a great story works for me! I don’t pay much attention to the genre labels.

What do you like to read?

Any story with a soul and cool characters is a good read to me. I especially like action-oriented novels with strong female characters who inspire me.

What about games?

I love action RPGs da best, but I will play any game of any genre that piques my interest. The only things I care about are good story and fun gameplay.

What geeky thing made you smile this week?

Watching my online friends stream video games on Twitch has become the most comforting thing in the world to me during this depressing coronapocalypse era. So of course, a couple of stream shenanigans are going be my answer to this! Sorry. I can’t choose between them on the smile scale.

This past Wednesday, I discovered that you can gift Twitch subscriptions to Twitch bots during one of Gaming Diaries’ great streams. I was literally in tears from laughing at all the reactions I triggered by doing that. I haven’t legitimately lol’d like that in ages. 🤣

Today, I’m proud to announce I joined the exclusive shiny Snorlax club on Jett of In Third Person’s channel. For those not in the know, Jett implemented a cool channel point feature that let’s you play the Pokéflute to summon a cute Snorlax animation. You have a 1 in 50 chance of summoning the epic shiny Snorlax, and if you do, you are immortalized on Jett’s Twitch page.

I lost count of how many tries it took me, but today it happened and that epic feeling had me grinning like an idiot for most of the day.

What quote always makes you smile?

True friends are those rare people who come to find you in dark places and lead you back into the light.

  1. I love the Simpsons! They always make me laugh! This is a great prompt! It’s so cool to learn what makes people smile – Twitch is defo one of my favs, too. I stream an I get so happy when i get even one chatter! I’m pretty introvert in real life, so I love interacting with people online. I also love it when streamers actually enguage with their community. I follow a few really cool Kiwi streamers and they’re so involved in their chat they often don’t do well in the game… but that’s ok because it leads to lots of laughs 😀

    1. The Simpsons got me through so much drama, lemme tell ya! That’s awesome. I’m not brave enough to stream myself (also introvert) but I’ve met a cool community of streamer friends I love chatting with. Communities like that are so much fun. What’s your Twitch ID if ya wanna share? I’ll give you a follow!
