Seriously Geeky… Um, Saturday: Warriors

Oops! I missed another blogging community event deadline during my recent online leave of absence. Time to fix that by doing a double feature of Serious Geeky Sundays by Just Geeking By this weekend. Sorry for the lateness of this post!

Heather’s questions for this Sunday last Sunday are all about warriors. The topic was inspired by the June 6th, 1944 D-Day landing of the Allied Forces on the beaches of Normandy during World War II.

Humanity just doesn’t learn from our painful history, do we? To say the very least, the ugly face of fascism seems to be making a disturbing reappearance in our modern world. We got this, though. Never stop fighting for justice, equality, and peace. Black Lives Matter!

You can’t hide now
I am the warrior
So decide now
How they’ll remember you
Do not hide now
Act like a warrior
Show your pride now
Solidify your place in time

Lyrics from the song “Warrior” by Disturbed

And yep, I’ll be listening to that song while wrting this post. RAWR!

So… without anymore intro babbling from me, here are my answers to Just Geeking By’s combative questions for this week. Thank you, Heather!

What is the most pivotal fictional battle you can think of?

The Battle for Earth at the end of Mass Effect 3. Hands down one of the most depressing and inspiring end game scenarios I’ve ever played through. It also wraps up a trilogy long adventure and it’s just… wow.

Fighting for the future of all organic life in the galaxy on an Earth that’s being harvested by killer AI machines, and saying goodbyes to the entire cast of lovable BioWare characters. The feelz are so realz…. sniffs.

Would I sacrifice myself to bring peace to an entire galaxy? In a heartbeat!

Who is your favourite warrior?

Aloy from the video game Horizon: Zero Dawn. OMG!! I love her sarcasm, badass baddie-bashing skills, her big heart, and her brute force tactics (well, I made her use brute force tactic options a lot). She’s also a bullied outcast character that I really connected with.

Legend! I’d say she’s probably my second favourite fictional character of all time… ALL TIME!

Is there a fictional warrior class do you admire?

Dragonknight from Elder Scrolls Online. RAWR!! Dragonknights smash things real good. I’m still not very far in my ESO journey, but I’m loving my Orc Dragonkight’s skillz thus far. For example, she can make spikes shoot out of her back to look really cool (I think it has some effect in battles but ability coolness is most important stat to me). Oh! And I just picked up an ability called Dragon Leap…😍

She’s a big noob with horribly mismatched gear currently, but I still love playing as her!

What is your favourite quote about battles?

Stand amongst the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters. The silence is your answer.

Javik, Mass Effect 3

If you could join a fictional fighting organisation what would it be?

Since Final Fantasy VII is all the rage with the first installment on the remake out recently, I’m going to say I’d totally join AVALANCHE if I could. They literally blow up eco-fascism and greed in a benevolent effort to save an entire dying planet.

While violence is never the answer when dialogue is possible, sometimes fighting back is the only answer that can save the lives of good people. Humanity has an entire violent history that sadly proves that point.

Barret Wallace, head of AVALANCHE, will always be my favourite character in FFVII. He won’t stop fighting for a planet that his daughter can live peacefully on.

You’re able to learn one battle ability or spell for a day; what would it be?

Curaga from the the Final Fantasy video game series. I could use it to heal all my friends and any innocent people who need some health help. Plus it’s so fun to say… CURAGA!! Tee hee. Hm. I wonder if Curaga could cure coronavirus?

  1. I may have sniggered at the mismatched gear comment… every MMORPG ever. Every time. I’m so glad they added transmog to WoW because even my low-level characters have the perfect gear. The options are limited, but hey, they look as spiffy as I can make them!

I love that quote, it speaks volumes.
