🎶 It was the summer, the summer, summer of 2020, noooo!! 🎶
Yep. Time sure flies when the world seems to be ending, eh? Year of the Pandemic is cruising right along and now it’s already summer in my part of the world. Wow.
Anyway, welcome back to another installment of me answering questions for Just Geeking By‘s series of blogging prompts called Seriously Geeky Sundays. This week is all about sunny summer themes. Definitely check out Heather’s creative prompts and take part in the fun if you want! I’m absolutely loving her questions so far.
So… without anymore intro babbling from me, here are my answers to Just Geeking By’s sunlit questions for this week. Thank you, Heather!
What is your favourite summer movie?
Name pretty much any movie and the chances are very high that I’ve never seen it. Movies in general just aren’t my thing, I guess. I’d rather be making progress in video games or writing things than sitting still and watching something for a few hours. I know. I’m weird.
That being said, the only summer vibe movie I can think of to mention here would be Pokémon: Pikachu’s Vacation. It was an animated short film attached to the main movie Mewtwo Strikes Back. I have very fond memories of my parents taking young me to a movie theatre back in ’99 to see it. That was a rare treat when you lived in the middle of nowhere like I did.
What is your favourite summer scene/moment from a fandom? This could be something specific to hot weather i.e. trip to the beach or a holiday/road trip, or something that happened during the summertime.
Definitely the end scene in a video game called Banjo-Kazooie. Ding dong the witch is dead, and all the heroes get to soak in the sun and relax after the crazy adventure they just completed!
What is your favourite fictional tropical location?
Nothing can compete with happy childhood memoires! That’s why the Crescent Island track in Diddy Kong Racing is my answer for this one. The tropical vibes are amazing and I love that part of the track is a pirate ship.
If you could go on holiday to any fictional place where would it be?
Sunleth Waterscape in Final Fantasy XIII. I remember using this as an answer in another post, but hey, that’s okay! It just highlights this area’s awesomeness in my mind.
It’s basically a peaceful vibrant forest area with zero people around. Yes, please!! I could do so much mediation and relaxing during my holiday here.
Which fictional characters would you choose for a road trip?
I can fit four passengers in my car so I’d love to hit the road with these four fantastic fictional people:
- Lightning Farron from the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy
- Liara T’Soni from the Mass Effect trilogy
- Alistair from the Dragon Age series
- Kratos from the God of War series
Most of these awesome folks are introverts (like me) so there’d be no forced awkward conversations, just the peaceful enjoyment of each other’s badass company.
That being said, I can see Alistair getting a little too chatty with the sarcastic remarks and whatnot. Kratos would threaten to hit him with his magic axe, Lightning would punch him, and then Liara could immobilize him with a biotic field to easily return peace to the trip!
I also really hope we hit a boss encounter along the way. That fight would be the definition of epic!
Pick a fandom and create an ice cream flavour based on it!
I’m going to cheat a bit here and mention an already in existence ice cream flavour. That would be Nova Scotia’s own Moon Mist, and associate it with the Mass Effect games.
Moon mist is an outta this world combo of grape, banana and bubble gum. It might not sound all that amazing, but it truly is! I recommend you try it out if you ever find yourself in Nova Scotia. I can totally see Commander Shepard and Pathfinder Ryder rocking commercials for this flavour.
I’m also going to use this as an opportunity to shamelessly promote my Instagram page. Here’s what Moon Mist ice cream looks like! See the galactic vibes??
