Seriously Geeky Sundays: Galaxy Adventures

Happy moon landing anniversary day… tomorrow! Or maybe all the tinfoil hats are correct and it didn’t actually happen. Who knows? Who cares? Not I.

Anyway, welcome back to another installment of me answering questions for Just Geeking By‘s series of blogging prompts called Seriously Geeky Sundays. This week is all about our journeys in space fandoms. Definitely check out Heather’s creative prompts and take part in the fun if you want! I’m absolutely loving her questions so far.

So… without anymore intro babbling from me, here are my answers to Just Geeking By’s intergalactic questions for this week. Thank you, Heather!

Oh and fair warning… I should have just titled this article Seriously Geeky Sundays: Mass Effect.

What is your favourite sci-fi fandom?

The entire Mass Effect video game series (yes, even Andromeda). I love it so much all the answers to the prompts will probably be Mass Effect related. Sorry, not sorry. 🌌

What is your favourite fictional planet?

I’m going to go with the planet Aya from Mass Effect: Andromeda. It’s a lovely tropical hideaway world and home base of the angaran resistance. I’m so ready to ditch Earth’s drama and move here whenever space travel to the Andromeda galaxy becomes a thing. Jaal Ama Darav (the local angaran who becomes a companion) was my Ryder’s romance choice so I’d definitely be all for settling down with him here!

Kett can’t touch this. 😎

I’ll also never forget my Ryder’s sarcastic first contact prep scene when she first crashed her way onto the planet…

She actually found her true love here…. didn’t go badly at all! ❤

Who is your favourite alien character?

Liara T’Soni from the Mass Effect trilogy!! I love Liara T’Soni from the Mass Effect trilogy with all my heart for so many reasons!! Ahem.

I can praise this badass biotic beauty endlessly, but the bottom line is Liara T’Soni is the video game character who showed me what I want in a life partnership with someone. By declining all of the official romance options on my first playthrough, she became my super BFF and it was the most special relationship I’ve ever experienced in a game (or ever, really).

A true BFF will always stand by your side, no matter what happens.

What is your favourite alien species?

The asari: a monogendered race of badass blue women with biotic powers and a strong military system (Liara’s race… unsurprisingly). Gender doesn’t mean a damn thing to the asari, and thus are able to partner with virtually anyone they want to. Plus they can live for, like, a thousand years. That’s freaking amazing!

Although members of the asari are often portrayed in a, um, overtly sexual light in the games (read: a lot of them are seductresses and strippers), the asari reproduction meld does not actually require any of that sexual physical contact stuff I’m not a fan of. Liara stole my demiromantic asexual heart as soon as she told me that in the first Mass Effect game.

Wait… you mean we can have lots of blue children and I don’t even have to kiss you?? Just connect with you in a strong bond on an intense emotional level?? Oh, baby!

What alien creature would you like to have as a pet?

I think a dog-like varren creature from the OG Mass Effect trilogy would make a fabulously furious pet! I love my cats but I miss having a dog in my life too (can’t have one in my current living situation).

Good varren!

What is the most visually stunning alien landscape you’ve seen in a fandom?

Meridian from Mass Effect: Andromeda is absolutely gorgeous and mysteriously awesome. I won’t say anything else for spoiler reasons.

Can we please get a Mass Effect: Andromeda 2 before EA shutters you, BioWare? Don’t make me beg…

Do you like our content and want to support Ace Asunder? Check out how you can do that here! (Shocking Spoiler: It doesn’t involve giving us money for writing this.)

  1. All the Mass Effects alllllllll 😂

Can’t say I’d have answered much different either it’s definitely one of my favourite games series and definitely my favourite sci-fi alien spacey thing (I think that’s the term 😆), hopefully some day we’ll see a Mass Effect 4 or Andromeda 2 or a remaster of the trilogy (or EA dissolve into the ether never to darken the gaming world again and therefore free Bioware from their evil grasp…… you know just something, haha)

    1. All of your Mass Effects are mine 😈 (Don’t ask what that was, haha)

I should write a fanfiction where all the BioWare characters band together to save their creator from the clutches of the evil EA empire 🤔
