Seriously Geeky… Um, Saturday: Warriors

Oops! I missed another blogging community event deadline during my recent online leave of absence. Time to fix that by doing a double feature of Serious Geeky Sundays by Just Geeking By this weekend. Sorry for the lateness of this post!

Heather’s questions for this Sunday last Sunday are all about warriors. The topic was inspired by the June 6th, 1944 D-Day landing of the Allied Forces on the beaches of Normandy during World War II.

Humanity just doesn’t learn from our painful history, do we? To say the very least, the ugly face of fascism seems to be making a disturbing reappearance in our modern world. We got this, though. Never stop fighting for justice, equality, and peace. Black Lives Matter!

You can’t hide now
I am the warrior
So decide now
How they’ll remember you
Do not hide now
Act like a warrior
Show your pride now
Solidify your place in time

Lyrics from the song “Warrior” by Disturbed

And yep, I’ll be listening to that song while wrting this post. RAWR!

So… without anymore intro babbling from me, here are my answers to Just Geeking By’s combative questions for this week. Thank you, Heather!

Seriously Geeky Sundays: Food

Oh, man… am I ever in a MOOD today. I’ve sobbed and raged, but I haven’t let those painful feelz control me. I can’t fight how I’m feeling in these crappy moments, I can only control my actions and not act like self-destructive trainwreck. Being aware that the only thing in this crazy world I can control is me is a great coping mechanism I’ve learned to utilize with professional help, some trial, and a ton of catastrophic errors. Go me! Enough about my moods… let’s talk about da foods!

Speaking of food, quick shout-out to the awesome Later Levels for holding an epic dinner photo not-really-but-was-contest during their Twitch stream earlier today! Plus their Eurovision Division stream last night was a freaking blast. All that really brightened my weekend! Thank you for that.

Anyway, the awesome Heather over at Just Geeking By started a series of blogging prompts called Seriously Geeky Sundays. This week is all about the fantastic fictional food. Definitely check out Heather’s creative prompts and take part in the fun if you want! I’m absolutely loving her questions so far.

So… without anymore intro babbling from me, here are my answers to Just Geeking By’s sating questions for this week. Thank you, Heather!

Seriously Geeky Sundays: Family

Oh, crap… It’s Mother’s Day here in Canada. I should probably contact my mom in some form after this, eh? I’m not even sure what year it is anymore so I’m sure she’ll understand. Plus I can pull the corona card to avoid a rushed visit. Ha! But yeah, family.

Family is a bit of a, um, “complex concept” for me. I’ll spare the drama details, but I only have my parents and my two cats to call family. Just because you’re related to people by blood doesn’t mean you have to refer to them as family. Sometimes you just gotta let go of the toxic people who don’t really want you in their lives. Besides, true friends who become like family are infinitely more awesome than forced blood ties. I’m grateful to have quite a few of those cool true friends, both online and offline. Thank you ❤

Super Happy Love Blog Award Thingy

True love heals and conquers hate and misery, which the world seems to have a lot of these days sadly. When I’m feeling at my worst, trying to help the people I care about and focusing on the positive things around me helps keep my darkness at bay. Yep. I have a lot of things going on right now that make me really freaking sad, but I have a lot of really good things going on now too.

The glass is not half full nor half empty… I shattered it and focused on living in the now. It’s just a damn glass with liquid in it, and is in no way an accurate representation of my overall optimism levels.

Anywho, the super lovely Later Levels nominated me for this lovely Super Happy Love Blog Award created by the super personable Pinkie’s Paradise. Thank you so much! More of these love and positivity things are definitely needed on the internet and I’m honored for the opportunity to partake.

Badass Friga Bearfist From Elder Scrolls Online

Have you ever just clicked with an insignificant quest NPC you’ve spent several seconds talking with, and know you will never see them again, ever, after their minor part in the overall quest is over? That would be Friga Bearfist for me!

I finally finished the freaking Sun-in-Shadow quest line tonight (she needs to learn to let go, man) and wandered back down toward Vivec City. One side quest led to another and I stumbled upon The Scarlet Judge’s quest line.

He’s a total vigilante badass, by the way. My natural Chaotic Good character alignment immediately fell in love with him. I so want to hug him really tightly. Ahem. I’m not far into his quest thus far, but one of the first things to do was get some testimony from some unfortunate slave-prisoners nearby (and murder the thugs in the area). That’s where I met Friga Bearfist!

She certainly hasn’t let her current imprisonment dampen her fiery spirit. Based on the few lines of dialog with her, she seems to really love punching idiots and I highly approve of that. Punching a jackass in the face is such a therapeutic release and something I wish was more socially acceptable in our world full of idiots.

Yup. I’d definitely love to grab a drink with you sometime, Friga. There’s no doubt in my mind you and my Orc Dragonknight would be BFFs. I’ll also probably forget you in a few days, but will always be reminded of you thanks to this post. That’s the power of blogging right there!

Yeah. There’s a high probability tomorrow’s post will be a screenshot of The Scarlet Judge. We shall see what happens with him! Carry on, internet.

Bounty Bound From Elder Scrolls Online

I won’t lie… there is a slight chance that for the rest of my blogging career my posts will just be screenshots of Elder Scrolls Online. And you know what? I’ve embraced that possibility. I haven’t played an MMO since I quit World of Warcraft in 2015. It’s so good to be back on the wagon when the real world is falling apart!

Today’s screenshot triggered topic: Oh, man… I’m terrible at stealthing in video games. I’ve only done two required stealthing sections thus far in ESO. One resulted in the death of a guard (my sword slipped, I swear), servants screaming, and my Orc paying the authorities 85 gold coins to make her Bounty go away. Oops!

Stealth event two went… better? I didn’t accidentally on purpose kill anyone this time, the servants still screamed, I got killed to be respawned next to the person I was illegally getting the item for (convenient!), and my Orc only had to pay 35 gold to get her innocence back. Yeah. That’s definitely better, I think!

It might be easier on NPCs in the realm if I just offered to buy any future quest items I’m required to steal. It certainly cuts out the bounty collector guards as middlemen and puts the profits solely with the people I’m stealing stuff from.

Disgruntled Dragonknight From Elder Scrolls Online

I actually don’t want to spend much time doing blog things today, and that’s okay! Recognizing when you’re just not into a hobby and stepping back from it is an important skill I’ve finally mastered. Forcing yourself to do unnecessary things that are supposed to be fun leads to burnouts and self-destruction. I know that trip all too well…

Anyway, I just started playing Elder Scrolls Online on the weekend (entirely Later Levels‘ fault) and I want to do that more right now. So I’m just going to say I love the game, my Orc Dragonknight is a total badass, and here’s a screenshot of her being cranky in Sun-in-Shadow’s fancy new hireling house (working on that quest line now) for today’s Blapril post. Enjoy!
