Lightning Will Not Leave Me

This article is brought to you by the fifteenth Blaugust 2020 Promptapalooza topic presented by the awesome blogger Chestnut over at Game Girl Confessions: Tell us about a person(s) or thing(s) that has greatly influenced you.

This is the perfect opportunity to re-post an article I wrote in a previous blogging life. The TL;DR is that the fictional video game character Lightning Farron (and the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy) has greatly influenced who I am today. The following article describes why I love the games as best as it can be explained. It’s honestly more of a weird emotional attachment that doesn’t make much sense to anyone else, probably.

Also, I feel like this is a prime opportunity to show off my tattoo of Lightning Farron! The fact I have this character permanently etched on my arm should say A LOT about how much she means to me.

Enjoy my long deleted past self’s words about the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy!

My Game Sheroes and Heroes

This article is brought to you by the nineth Blaugust 2020 Promtapalooza topic presented by the awesome writer Endalia over on Princess in a Castle: Tell us about some of your favorite protagonist/s and explain why.

Yes!! I love talking about my favourite protagonists. Video games have provided me with the vast majority of people I love, so this article is going to focus on video game characters.

Seriously Geeky Sundays: Conventions

In an alternate reality where the coronavirus doesn’t exist and humans might possibly be spider-people, the annual San Diego Comic-Con would be happening this weekend. But alas, we’re all stuck on this virus-ridden homosapien-controlled version of Earth.

I’ve never attended a convention before, and to be perfectly honest, it’s not something I’ve been too keen on experiencing firsthand (I’ve been social distancing since way before it was cool). I did have plans for a long road trip with my best friend to attend my first one in August, but obviously that got cancelled for reasons.

Meh. I got a full refund and now I don’t have to deal with the annoying strangers that come attached to conventions, so all good!

Anyway, welcome back to another installment of me answering questions for Just Geeking By‘s series of blogging prompts called Seriously Geeky Sundays. This week is all about convention experiences (of which I have none so this should be interesting). Definitely check out Heather’s creative prompts and take part in the fun if you want! I’m absolutely loving her questions so far.

So… without anymore intro babbling from me, here are my answers to Just Geeking By’s conventional questions for this week. Thank you, Heather!

Seriously Geeky Sundays: Family

Oh, crap… It’s Mother’s Day here in Canada. I should probably contact my mom in some form after this, eh? I’m not even sure what year it is anymore so I’m sure she’ll understand. Plus I can pull the corona card to avoid a rushed visit. Ha! But yeah, family.

Family is a bit of a, um, “complex concept” for me. I’ll spare the drama details, but I only have my parents and my two cats to call family. Just because you’re related to people by blood doesn’t mean you have to refer to them as family. Sometimes you just gotta let go of the toxic people who don’t really want you in their lives. Besides, true friends who become like family are infinitely more awesome than forced blood ties. I’m grateful to have quite a few of those cool true friends, both online and offline. Thank you ❤

Seriously Geeky Sundays: Creativity

Be true to the creative you! That’s the best advice I can give to anyone creating content. Don’t try to smash yourself into a mould so you can follow the path to “success” some other content creator took. When all content is essentially a clone of what worked, everything looks the same and you don’t stand out much, eh? Unleashing your true creativity is the key to shining bright against dull trending backdrops.

Speaking of cool creative people, the awesome Heather over at Just Geeking By started a series of blogging prompts called Seriously Geeky Sundays.
