Seriously Geeky Sundays: Romance is in the air

Ugh. International Kissing Day… bah humbug! You crazy kids get offa my lawn with your kissing each other and whatnot.

Kidding! Back before I figured out my sexual orientation, I hated seeing anything to do with romance, to be honest. I’ve never truly desired kissing or sex, and I felt so alone for feeling that way. Thankfully, I got all my love shizz figured out these days!

Did you know? Sexual and romantic attraction are two different things in our brains! They usually align together for most humans, but not always. I’m have no desire for kissing or sex with any gender (asexual), but I do experience the other romantic feelings for rare people of any gender I bond with on a deep emotional level (demiromantic).

I have realized I do want a life partner, but haven’t had very much luck in that love area. The two people I’ve developed my true demiromantic feelings for didn’t return that love, and both chose other people to have a romantic relationship with over me (ow, my poor fragile self-worth). The people who have been attracted to me… well, sadly I felt nothing for them.

Romance is not something to be jealous of, silly brain. I’ve never had a romantic partner and there’s absolutely no rush or need to have one. I’d much rather be alone forever than trapped with someone I don’t truly love and can’t be myself around. Stop being so pushy on single people, society.

Enough about my lack of love life! The awesome Heather over at Just Geeking By started a series of blogging prompts called Seriously Geeky Sundays. This week is all about that romance thing. Definitely check out Heather’s creative prompts and take part in the fun if you want! I’m absolutely loving her questions so far.

So… without anymore intro babbling from me, here are my answers to Just Geeking By’s lovey questions for this week. Thank you, Heather!

Novel Notes: Each Little Universe

ZOMG! An upcoming soon-to-be-super-famous published author gave me an advance copy of their debut novel?? This is so freaking cool… ahem. Sorry. Let me try to pull out my professional-ish article writing tone. I think I have one of those… probably? (I… um, don’t think I do. Oh well!)

In all seriousness, that was one of my primary objectives for creating Ace Asunder about 2 months ago: To promote great indie content creators on their path to content creation stardom. Thank you so much to the great author Chris Durston for giving me this opportunity to do that! Also, if there are any other indie aspiring authors, game developers, artists, content-in-general creators out there reading this and want me to babble-boost about your work, feel free to drop me a line and I’ll consider it.

Disclaimer: I also consider Chris one of my closest friends so my opinions of his work may be a bit biased because I know what an awesome human he truly is. Supporting my rare friends relentlessly and however I can while they pursue whatever they dream of doing is just how I am.

Wildly Obsessed With Wentworth

I wouldn’t know firsthand since I’ve never been in jail (or even konwingly broken any laws since I’m an upstanding person) but prison sounds like a really brutal place I’d never want to end up. Gangs, drugs, being caged in constant close proximity to other women with no privacy… yeah. I wouldn’t last long in that environment.

Prison dramas seem all the rage lately but I admit I haven’t been overly interested in them. At the time of this article I still haven’t seen Orange is the New Black, for example. A cool friend of mine told me I NEEDED to watch Wentworth IMMEDIATELY, and well, I’m freaking glad I listened to her!

This Australian drama is one masterpiece of an emotional roller coaster ride. It’s hard to put into words just how much this show pulled me in. I was a complete wreck (in a good way) after having pretty much binge-watched Seasons 1-7 on Netflix (the only way to see it in my part of the world).
